World Serbian Voice was established towards the end of 1990 with the first issue released on the 19th March 1991.
Serbian stars like Mira Skoric, Miloje Budanja and Srdjan Stanic (now residing in Sydney) joined us in a promotional celebration of the newspapers release.
The beginning was hard, with only one computer, it was difficult to meet deadlines, we had to buy three more when prices of computers were exorbitant.
Then, the paper was published in black and white with front, back and centre pages having additional red and blue colours. Originally it was published weekly, growing to twice a week (Tuesday & Friday). This remains the same today with the exception of four pages being in full colour.
Djordje Marinković is the founder and owner of the World Serbian Voice who has worked with many experienced and enthusiastic people who have added their contribution and a numerous number volunteering their services and support. Today WSV has many accredited journalists from all around the world contributing their work through head office in Melbourne and editorial office in Belgrade. Current editor is Slobodan Grba with Rade Berak (editor/ journalist) and Milan Ninović (sports editor)
The paper is distinctively Serbian, democratic and independent, in other words not favouring any political party or opinion but dedicates itself to true reporting and the Serbian community, Orthodox Church and the uplifting of the youth within the community.
World Serbian Voice has received many awards and recognitions for their humanitarian contribution during the 1990s when the Serbian people were living through harrowing times and with continuous efforts to this day. Much recognition has come from the local churches, clubs, cultural and community clubs for the financial and continuous support.
